The Public Relations Manager and Storyteller will report to the Director of Global Public Relations and collaborate with the London / Middle East leadership team to create and implement external communications programs to elevate our visibility in key market sectors – Healthcare, Sports, Hospitality, Commercial, Education and Aviation.


This position is based in HKS’ London office and will specifically focus on elevating our practice within the United Kingdom, Europe and Middle East. Fluency with global trends shaping the architecture industry – as well as our clients’ industries – is important.

Responsibilities

Tasks include (but not limited to) strategic media outreach, social media engagement and content development for web, print and social platforms (e.g. writing blog posts and byline articles).

 

  • Collaborate with London / Middle East leadership and PR Director to develop and execute global media relations strategies – seek high-level placements in print, broadcast and digital media
  • Partner with MarComm team of writers, designer and strategists to create and implement multi-channel communication programs
  • Develop and maintain editorial contacts at key vertical and consumer news, trade, business and lifestyle media
  • Create PR content: fact sheets, media pitches, press releases, byline articles, blog posts, messaging for keynote presentations
  • Advise on social media strategies
  • Position key sector and design leaders as industry experts in media and speaking opportunities
  • Collaborate with HKS research team to amplify thought leadership
  • Coordinate media interviews and ad-hoc media training for spokespeople
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.

Qualifications

  • Interest in the architecture and design community
  • Experience within an architecture, design, or professional services firm
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven track record of successful media placements
  • Experience working with senior and executive leadership
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in a public relations position is required
  • Fluency in social media
  • Able to apply sound judgment while working independently within tight timelines
  • Strategic and independent thinker and planner
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Great interpersonal skills; able to forge trusting relationships within a diverse team
  • Proficiency in standard Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • University degree in Journalism, English, or related area is required
